Robert Beltran (born November 19, 1953) is an American actor best known for his role as Commander Chakotay on the science fiction television series Star Trek: Voyager.
Early Life and Education: Beltran was born in Bakersfield, California. He attended California State University, Fresno, but left before graduating to pursue acting.
Acting Career: His acting career began in the late 1970s with roles in television shows like Lou Grant. He appeared in films such as Zoot Suit, Eating Raoul, and Bugsy. However, his most prominent role was as Commander Chakotay on Star Trek: Voyager, where he was a series regular from 1995 to 2001.
